The distribution of the MON Mission rewards to our community followed a 4-stage approach:
Several criteria were used to define whether a user is eligible to receive this season’s Mission rewards:
266,248 accounts were excluded due to honeypot measures.
830,179 accounts were excluded due to missing wallet connection.
1,286,130 accounts were excluded due to X account suspension.
A total number of 524,902 Mission participants qualify for reward consideration passed these basic anti-bot and account sanity checks criteria.
We are aware that many of the most sophisticated bots are able to easily pass these initial anti-bot measures and thus this figure is still inflated by a high number of non-human participants.
Account qualification criteria are meant to obviate to two residual problems in the distribution:
We resorted to the two qualitative methods at our disposal in the data set to do so:
And proceeded to cut the total distribution by excluding accounts with less than 20 followers AND less than 10 hrs of STEAM play time.
We believe that the combination of the two criteria ensures that the least possible number of real community members with low follower count are captured in the X filter.
Note: Wallet transaction history was also considered as a qualitative method, we through noticed that most users including clearly high quality users (high STEAM and high follower count) used fresh hot wallets to connect to the Missions Dapp - following standard wallet safety measures, rendering this metric not usable for this step.
A total of 350,262 users qualify under these criteria, out of the 524,902 coming from step 1.
An account was excluded from the distribution if any of the RED conditions below held true.
The MON Missions platform is a social and gaming questing platform. The value distributed to each account should depend on the value brought to the platform by each account.
Such value can be derived through four metrics:
The number of Mission points a user accumulated, a function of the number of quests completed and the average quest complexity. This will be our primary ranking driver.
The number of Missions users referred by each user, multiplied by the assigned Missions Points per user (200). This metric was adjusted to only count referrals from valid accounts, if a referred user ended up being an Invalid Account or not passing the Qualification Criteria the referral points were not considered in the total Mission points of the referring user. This metric is an adjustment to the primary ranking driver.
Not every social questor is equivalent, an account with a 10,000 follower X reach brings more value to the ecosystem than an account with 500 followers. This is a secondary driver and derived by applying boosters (multipliers of the Mission points) based on social following, TG account linking and Discord account linking are taken as smaller booster of Social Reach too.
As a gaming questing platform Social quests performed by a gamer with a social circle of fellow gamers, or Gaming (in game actions) quests performed by a gamer carry greater ecosystem value than quests carried forth by non gamer profiles. This is a third degree driver and derived by applying boosters based on STEAM hours played and IMX wallet ownership.
Boosting multipliers compound to each other, as multipliers of Mission points completed, we outline below the boosters applied:
Let’s make a simplified example to understand how boosters works in calculating a users’ Ranking Points from hist Quest Points:
The boosters, multiplied by the Mission points result in a new ranking of our 348,629 qualified accounts based on Ranking Points.
Ranking Points are what will be used for final Season 1 $MON rewards distribution.
In total 15,000,000 $MON tokens, equivalent to ~12% of total circulating supply and 1.5% of total diluted supply will be released as a reward to season 1 Mission participants. The market currently values the season 1 total reward pool at ~2.1m USD.
We believe this to be a generous reward, both in proportion to total available value and in terms of rewarding a non invasive (no comments, or #tagging requested) questing platform.
The 15,000,000 tokens were distributed proportionally to total ranking points.
So if total ranking points = 10 billion and user X = 1 million points then user X would have:
1,000,000/10,000,000,000 * 15,000,000 = 1,500 $MON assigned to user X.
Some statistics for the total distribution thus obtained:
We are grateful to our Mission participants community.
We hope, within the imperfect data available to us, to have been able to allocate $MON based on the value and effort injected into the ecosystem by each of the participants.
